Finding an Iowa HSED or GED record
If you need an Iowa high-school-equivalency transcript or replacement diploma, start with the Iowa Department of Education's current instructions. Read Iowa does not hold records, verify credentials or take payment for documents.
Where the state directs requests
The department's Transcripts & Diplomas page says Iowa HSED and GED duplicate diploma and transcript requests are processed through DiplomaSender. It also says state agencies and community college programs cannot assist with those requests. Follow the link from the state page to reach the service, rather than choosing an advertisement that promises a replacement credential.
The state page listed a 20-dollar payment when checked on 23 October 2026. Confirm the amount, accepted payment method and delivery options on the current official instructions before ordering. A reading guide cannot guarantee a provider's turnaround time.
Check which record you need
A regular high school transcript and a high-school-equivalency record are different documents. The same state page gives separate directions for different school and institution records. Check the heading that matches your credential before entering information.
If your test was taken outside Iowa, start with the issuing state's official instructions. Living in Iowa now does not necessarily make Iowa the custodian of a record from another state.
Prepare privately
Have the information requested by the ordering service ready, and check how your name appeared when the credential was earned. Use the service's own help process for a mismatch. Do not send a Social Security number, identity document or transcript to the Read Iowa contact form.
Before paying, check the recipient and delivery method. An employer or college may need an official copy sent directly to it. Ask the recipient what it accepts so you do not purchase the wrong format.
If you are trying to earn a credential
Retrieving an old record is different from enrolling in a high-school-equivalency program. Iowa's state pages identify HiSET as its test route and describe alternative pathways. Current eligibility and program arrangements belong with the responsible state service or adult-education program, not a shopping link.
