Read Iowa reference shelf
About the reading desk
Read Iowa is an editorial reading room for adults: practical notes about books, study, tutoring and the numbers in everyday life. It publishes newly written explanations and original practice activities.
What you will find here
The guides begin with a manageable task: choosing one page, comparing two quantities, asking a useful question or setting aside a short practice session. They give worked examples and point to primary education and library resources when a reader needs current information.
Read Iowa does not run classes, award qualifications, maintain student records or accept donations. The pages on older web addresses have been newly written for this reading room. Their presence does not mean the former resource center or its writers operate this site.
About the bylines
Bethany Ellis, Oscar Jensen, Farah Qureshi, Duncan Moore and Lydia Hart are editorial pen names that organize different areas of the site. Their profiles describe subject coverage, not professional credentials or personal teaching experience. Illustrative photographs were generated for these guides; they do not depict staff, students or product testing.
Sources and corrections
We distinguish worked examples from real-world policy. Rules about Iowa credentials are linked to the relevant state source and checked dates appear on the guide. We welcome a correction through the contact page, especially when an official address or procedure changes.
Shopping
Some pages help readers compare learning supplies. A relevant shopping link may earn a commission when it is active. Buying something is not a condition of using the exercises, and a library or an item already at home is often a sensible first choice. See our shopping note.
